The ends of the bar are equipped with spring loading mechanisms. These can be retracted inward towards the car's centerline to disengage it. Kia has provided a storage compartment beneath the boot floor for safekeeping when not in use. It is somewhat cumbersome until one has completed it a few times...

I prefer Google Maps, having found it superior to Waze. They receive their camera and police alerts from Waze; therefore, I presume there is a corporate connection between Google and Waze.
