Since nothing else makes sense, I shall return and enquire as to whether the heat shield was examined. Additionally, I will inspect the boot region for any loose objects.

It seems like they examined the heat shield alongside the exhaust system.

It appears that during the exhaust inspection, the heat shield was also examined.
