A place for open-ended discussion on any car-related topic.

Apologies for my previous attempts to navigate other discussions, as the technical jargon used therein has proven to be somewhat perplexing and has left me feeling disoriented.

The car remains in its original basic configuration, without any modifications or adjustments. I have installed a set of 19-inch M performance wheels on my vehicle. The front is 7j, while the rear is 8j. The front tires have a width of 225 millimeters and an aspect ratio of 35, while the rear tires have a width of 235 millimeters and an aspect ratio of 30. The rear wheel has incurred damage and has undergone two repair attempts. It is now necessary to cease further efforts and proceed with replacing the wheel. Very well.. However, by doing a thorough examination and surveying various sources such as eBay, it seems that the majority of rear tires available are equipped with a size specification of 255/35.

If I were to make the decision to purchase a pre-owned wheel, should I prioritize mounting my existing 235/30 tire onto it, or should I consider replacing my other tire (which is already approaching the end of its lifespan) with a 255/35 tire instead?

I like the understated aesthetic appeal of the low profile style, but acknowledging the challenges it presents in daily life.

Alternatively, I am seeing more convenience in locating 8.5J wheels. However, I am uncertain about the compatibility of fitting my 235/30 tires into these wheels.

The division of 245 by 30.

The rear wheels of the 3 series will have a width of 8.5 inches, with a tire size of 255/30. :D

I appreciate your response. The notion I had in mind aligns with your statement, and locating an 8J variant is like to searching for a little object in a large and complex space. However, the 8J model I managed to uncover had a tire with a width of 255, similar to all the 8.5J models. I anticipate the presence of an 8.5J, however, I was surprised by the presence of an 8J as it deviates significantly from my 235. Consequently, I am curious as to whether the discrepancy is with them, or with me, and if it would be more advantageous to adopt their tire or retain mine.

It may be advisable to do a search using the specific component number as a means of effectively excluding other wheel options.

Although I cannot be certain, the value of 255 seems to be accurate in my understanding.

The dimensions of the mentioned automobiles seem to be incorrect. It is expected that cars with a length of 2 meters would have a front wheel width of at least 8J and a rear wheel width of 8.5J. Additionally, the recommended tire sizes for such cars would typically be 235/35 for the front and 255/30 for the rear. The described specifications resemble a configuration more suitable for winter driving conditions.

The use of a somewhat narrow tire, such as a 7.5 J, on a vehicle with a considerable amount of power seems to be quite unconventional in my opinion.

It is important to exercise caution about the authenticity of some products. In the case of BMW, it should be noted that they did not manufacture an 8.5" wide wheel in a 19" size. Therefore, it is quite probable that the items available for purchase on eBay are replicas or duplicates.

To clarify, the M240i equipped with Style 405M alloys is:

The specified wheel dimensions are 19x7.5J with an offset of ET45, and the tire size is 225/35R19. The part number provided is 36116796220.
The specified wheel size is 19x8J with an offset of ET52, and it is paired with a tire size of 245/30R19. The part number for this particular wheel is 36116796221.

To which model are we referring? Is the discussion limited to the BMW M240i model? Because my 19-inch wheels have a rear width of 8.5j, which is the standard size.

Could you perhaps provide more context or clarify your question? The phrase "Style 405" is not clear and does not provide enough Could you please provide information on the make and model of the automobile, as well as the year it was manufactured?
