Certainly.
Conversely, there is a noticeable decrease in the number of automobiles without functioning lights during periods when lights are plainly necessary. The automobiles I saw on several motorways last week were older models that likely lack the feature.
However, I was momentarily unable to see due to an oncoming contemporary SUV, the make of which I am uncertain. The vehicle seemed to have fog lights that were severely misaligned and were illuminated simultaneously with what appeared to be daytime running lights or sidelights. However, it is possible that these lights were really dipped headlights with an advanced control system.
Therefore, it may be inferred that there are situations where it is still feasible to generate illumination combinations that are not effective.
Examining the reasoning behind automatic headlights once again.

Is the lighting sensor located at the top/center of the dashboard or inside the cluster of objects near the rearview mirror?

The item should be placed on the top of the dashboard, in close proximity to the red security light.

As already said.
The activation may be performed manually either from inside or outside the vehicle.

I personally do not utilise the automatic headlights; that responsibility falls upon my boss. However, there was an instance where I was driving on a local road, positioned on the left side, waiting to merge into traffic. As I passed beneath some overhanging trees, the headlights automatically activated. The driver in the other vehicle mistakenly interpreted this as a signal to proceed, leading me to abruptly apply the brakes in order to avoid a collision. This occurrence is likely quite uncommon, similar to my preference for manually controlling the main beam to keep my cognitive faculties engaged.

Recently, I have come across many postings and articles that imply that using one's car lights to convey messages to other drivers is likely ill-advised, mostly due to its lack of recognition in the official highway code.
Therefore, even if used with politeness, it exposes one to possible legal action or responsibility in the event of an unfavourable result.
In the past, when drivers had to manually control their lights, the usage of signals was often straightforward and unambiguous.
In today's world, where vehicles are equipped with daylight running lights, fog light "turn" lights, and running lights that automatically turn off when using indicators, there is a higher likelihood of misinterpreting lighting-based signals compared to the past. This is due to the presence of various advanced features that control light patterns for night driving.
Automobile headlights, as seen in your illustration, would contribute to the aforementioned issue.
The mandatory implementation of collision avoidance technologies, along with the establishment of 20mph zones, is a commendable development.
These measures are only temporary until the majority of people are convinced that they no longer need personal means of transportation, such as conventional vehicles.

When drivers stop being polite to others on the road, the situation worsens. I have always been puzzled by the fact that a simple left-to-right turn signal has traditionally been used as a way to express gratitude, and many drivers still adhere to this practise. However, using hazard lights to convey thanks sends a conflicting message. Unfortunately, in the past five years, an increasing number of drivers have been using their hazard lights to express gratitude, which can be easily misinterprete
