I am facing difficulties adding my 23-year-old daughter to my insurance policy or obtaining new driver's insurance for her on my vehicle after she passed her test. I will remain the primary driver, but insurance companies have informed me that they are reluctant to cover the BMW automobile. My automobile is a 2010 BMW 320i. Any suggestions?

An insurer informed me in the past that they do not provide insurance for new drivers on rear-wheel-drive (RWD) automobiles unless they had a certain number of years of driving experience.

Even if you found a provider that offers coverage, the price would be surprising. Consider using Adrian Flux.

Consider purchasing an older vehicle with a valid MOT for her and opting for third-party insurance coverage since it may be more cost-effective.

As mentioned before, it is a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) automobile, which is not often recommended for inexperienced drivers.

My wife prefers front-wheel drive (FWD) and does not appreciate the sport suspension features of the BMW. As a result, we choose for affordable hatchback cars for her, such as the Kia Rio. She adores it. It is excellent and practical, offering ample space and utility compared to the 320cd coupe. It is primarily used for commuting and shopping, with occasional longer trips, while a BMW and trailer are used for other purposes and daily commutes.

Insurers have observed that novice drivers and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) cars do not combine well due to the tendency of RWD cars to oversteer in rainy conditions.

I wonder if they would be more accommodating if it were an X-drive model.

Insurers lack confidence in the ESP/VSA system, which is designed to act and avert calamities, despite its fallibility.

There used to be a driving school in this area that featured a BMW as a vehicle for learners.
All the cars I learned to drive in were rear-wheel drive.

I have had my son included on the insurance policies for my BMW vehicles for many years. I typically pay an additional £150-£200 per year for this coverage. He has been included on the policies since he obtained his driver's licence 13 years ago, starting with models such as the e46 330d, e90 330d, e92 335d, 640d, and f31 330d x drive. However, he is not listed on the insurance for my M4.

My son had a 730LD on his own insurance coverage when he was 18. He paid around £1200 with Admiral. It was 18 months ago, so there is a possibility that things have changed. However, I will not include him in my 535d using DL.

Consider using Marmalade. Additional plans are available to let young or novice drivers to have their own coverage for driving another family member's automobile. The Polo car belonging to my daughter is registered in my name, and I insure it for both myself and my wife at a cost of around £200. My daughter has a Marmalade insurance that allows her to use my vehicle, which costs her around £700 annually. Any allegations she could make will be directed against her policies, not mine. She also accumulates her own no-claims bonus. She is 18 years old and obtained her driver's licence around 6 weeks ago. We considered adding her as a named driver, but the insurance company required an extra £1600.

Whether the insurance company feels you are fronting relies on whether you claim to be the primary driver while someone else is. The 19-year-old nephew had no difficulties obtaining insurance for a rear-wheel-drive MX-5 via Admiral.
