What kind of oil do you use? and your maintenance schedule

The oil and filter in my X5 are changed annually by the dealer or BMW independent shop using the recommended oil for the car. This has been done every year since I purchased the vehicle with 18 miles on it. Primarily a dealer since his prices are often equal to or lower than the dealer's.
The vehicle has accumulated around 38,000 miles and has had 5 oil and filter changes over the last five years. This year, the mileage was greater due to frequent trips to Devon.
