Greetings, I hope that I am submitting my article in the appropriate location. I own a 1999 C43 Estate. I have just replaced the automatic gearbox filter and fluid, as well as the O-ring for the electrical connection. Since the gearbox entered limp home mode, it has remained in that state. Connection to modules using the 32 pin connection is not possible. I have experimented with Autel and Snap on. Both function flawlessly on other Mercedes-Benz vehicles.I have verified that there is power flowing to pins 2 and 3, and that the diagnostic socket has a reliable ground connection. Do you have any recommendations?

Have you installed a new conductor plate?

I will assess the quality of the connection on the electric connector of the gearbox.

Given that it was previously in good condition, it is quite likely that the issue arose during the servicing.

As previously said, please inspect the electrical connection or consider replacing it. Their cost is less than £30.

I appreciate your response. Do you have any recommendations about where to make a purchase?

I have not done so since I want to diagnose the issue rather than randomly replacing components.

You are in search of guidance. I provide you with information at no cost.
You are very welcome.

Commonly worn-out components in these vehicles include the gearbox fluid.
Drain plug for oil.
Conductor plate.

Alternatively, may the solenoids, clutch packs or the gearbox (namely the sun gear) fail in automobiles with high mileage?

An oxygen sensor that is worn out might also lead to unpredictable shifting.

An excellent technique. Although Parts darts is not always successful, it may be a prudent decision to purchase on a new electrical plug for under £20, given the age of the gearbox.
