The vehicle in question is an S320 CDI model from late 2008. Following many occurrences of the engine light illuminating, I used a spray can cleaner to the catalytic converter twice. The light now exhibits erratic behaviour, turning on and off unpredictably. For instance, on my drive to Minehead, which spans 160 miles, the light turned on when I was halfway there. We used the vehicle with the light activated for a duration of one week. However, on the day we concluded our journey, the light ceased to illuminate and remained inactive for the remainder of the trip. Since then, it fluctuates at its own discretion! There is a single sensor located in the main body of the CAT, which is the only sensor in the whole exhaust system. I first assumed that it was an O2 sensor, but others have raised uncertainties about that assumption. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts? Additionally, how can one determine whether it is defective? I have encountered an issue with my iCar software that indicates a blocked catalytic converter, although this is not the case.

The device in question is an oxygen sensor. The object is located underneath the vehicle.

Many people have informed me that the issue is not related to the oxygen sensor. Typically, oxygen sensors are located before and after the catalytic converter, but in my case, my vehicle does not have these sensors. Please provide any information that you have. Your cooperation is much appreciated. I need a purchase, but, I am now facing a dilemma as I am not of the appropriate nomenclature. Thank you.

You claim that the Cat is not obstructed. How can you ascertain? What are the temperatures of the fluid entering and exiting the engine when it is running

The vehicle has only been driven for a total of 40,000 miles, all of which were long-distance trips. Additionally, it has had two thorough cleanings. The light may remain either on or off for extended periods of time.

There are no sensors located upstream or downstream of the CAT canister, just one sensor positioned in the centre.

It seems that you have O2 sensors, NOx sensors, and temperature sensors.

Icarsoft does not indicate a clogged catalytic converter. The Diesel oxidation catalyst operates in a passive manner. What is the exact verbatim statement from icarsoft?
