Until yesterday night, when I took my first ever drive in the dark, I had only driven the vehicle during the day since I got it in May of this year. As we were getting into the vehicle to return home, I told Mrs. P. that I'd read something about automatic headlights, but I wasn't sure how they operated or what they accomplished. The vehicle ahead of us abruptly veered off the road and... OMG! The bright headlights were turned on! Just as we were about to say, "Well, that's what they do!" we were wondering how skilled they were at dipping when a vehicle sped over the hill and, sure enough, they dove! It was incredible how effectively they handled traffic and how fast they reacted; we couldn't help but chuckle every time they swung high or low. Just right.

The designers deserve a lot of praise since we are completely smitten with this.

In a word, our kid described his P300E as follows: "Every time I get in this car I feel like I'm travelling First Class."

Wow, aren't they great? One other thing you'll notice when you go overseas is that, because to their beam, they don't need any modification for left or right hand driving.
I have driven all across Europe several times without ever having to change the vehicle or install deflectors; for details, see your owner's handbook.

The matrix, the top-of-the-line headlights, are really breathtaking, and I happen to own them.
Difficult to manually dip in dense fog, although a little disputed.
I really like how it automatically switches off individual LEDs to deflect incoming traffic while keeping high beams on.

Seriously, it is awesome.

A more superficial thing that I loved was how well they illuminated the road. Excellent layout.

I recall being impressed by the difference with LEDs in 2017 when we received our first Evoque 65 plate with optional LEDs instead of the standard zenons. It illuminated the road like a rally car on a night stage, but it didn't turn off individual LEDs. Now that they're all onboard, I'm wondering if only the matrix ones do that.

The matrix does indeed disable individual LEDs.
Even though it has full LEDs, mine just dips when it senses an object ahead of it.
The matrix lights seem incredible, but I've only ever seen them in action on film.
The leds on mine are impressive.

As I spin the wheel of my RCZ, the directional Xenon headlights (vision pack) highlight the turn I'm about to make. (Really impressive for a 2013 vehicle) I'm still really pleased with them, but the Evoque's LEDs illuminate the road more effectively, and the auto dip feature is fantastic.

They've come a long way, but if you're on a winding rural road, they still struggle to keep up with the curves (even with the matrix ones), but they're great on straight roads and mild curves :)

You can't see where the road is going when the auto-dip happens since you're lowering speed to avoid a steep 90-degree curve at the bottom of a hill. Many of the single-track roads that round Scotland's western coast include dramatic drops offs on either side of the turn.
Besides that, the high-quality LED lights are đź‘Ť

Thank you for the feedback on the bending; I will have it in mind in the event that it takes me by surprise.

No matter how far they drop while navigating around a tight turn, my Matrix headlights provide me with excellent vision, even though I live in the countryside. Fantastic features include the way they spread out when transitioning from dipped to main beam and the fact that they may be turned off individually to avoid blinding approaching motorists.
