However, it is possible that this noise is caused by your spouse when you get home late, perhaps?

A place for open-ended discussion on any car-related topic.

I have seen an increasing amount of literature discussing the hazardous incidents caused by autonomous driving systems rather than human drivers. I place more reliance on my sensory perception rather than on the sensors and computers in cars. They deceive you by creating a deceptive feeling of security. Recently on the forum, I saw reports of accidents and close calls caused by unusual occurrences when using driver assistance. During my adolescent years, I have a distinct recollection of operating my mother's Fiat 500 vehicle. One had to carefully observe, perceive, and attend to every little jolt, movement, or vibration and respond accordingly. You were required to operate it manually. I am not advocating for complete elimination, but I believe that they are excessively pushing beyond reasonable limits and diminishing the driving public's skills and innate talents.

I do not have any issue with it. The system is well-suited for use on highways since it automatically guides the vehicle inside the lane, providing a calm experience, provided that one can overlook the noise produced by the tyres.
During my first month utilising lane assist, I had a close encounter with a bicycle. However, I have been used to it since then.

The lane assist feature is quite inconvenient on the tiny roads in this area. Nevertheless, I anticipate that it will be beneficial on highways. Regrettably, the highway closest to my location is about 125 miles away, hence I have not had the opportunity to test it yet.

I want that the i10 we trailed today had lane assist, since it exhibited a greater duration with the driver side wheels crossing over the white line rather than remaining inside its designated lane.
The road has a standard width and is not narrow, although it has several curves. Fortunately, there is no oncoming traffic... However, the prevalence of drivers who are unable to maintain their vehicle inside the appropriate lane is constantly growing.

When activating the 'driver aids' while driving, it is important to remember that they are only assistance tools and should not replace your responsibility as the driver to be in full control of the car.
However, I strongly believe that manufacturers should reconsider some "systems" that they need the automobile to activate every time we enter the vehicle. Indeed, some individuals are obligated to do so as a result of rules.
The majority of drivers are not willing to relinquish control to the automobile's automation. Personally, I strongly desire to retain the final authority over how the car is operated, mostly by myself rather than relying on technology.
I acknowledge that some of the technology is indeed valuable. The majority of safety features, such as FCA (forward collision avoidance), blind spot monitoring, and rear object avoidance, are quite beneficial.

Drivers' abilities are unquestionably diminishing. I believe that we are gradually getting acclimated to the concept of autonomous vehicles. As I contemplate purchasing a new car, I have seen that electronic handbrakes have become the standard.Angry:
I do not consider it problematic to use the manual handbrake. In fact, relying on the manual handbrake prevented a potential accident in snowy conditions a few years ago. It enabled me to execute a partial handbrake turn, avoiding collision with a concrete post when the steering mechanism failed. I believe that using an electronic handbrake may not provide the same tactile experience.

I suspect that many of these purported 'aids' are conceived by 'Ancap', the organisation responsible for conducting safety testing. Regrettably, manufacturers are compelled to include these aids in order to get the coveted 5-star ratings. It seems to be a case of the tail wagging the dog, in my opinion.
