Is the Fiesta diesel engine considered reliable and efficient?(Starting from 2018.)After perusing several horror tales about the 1 litre ecoboost engine, I am contemplating the switch to a diesel option.I would much appreciate any suggestions.Thank you.

They are unquestionably more dependable than the 1.0 EcoBoost.
However, not completely devoid of blame. We have seen many instances of cam chains breaking on such vehicles. The design defect is identical to that of the Peugeot BlueHDi.
It seems that the current diesel is experiencing a higher frequency of diesel leakage from the low pressure pipework compared to the prior diesel. They possess an electronic tank pump, which has intermittent malfunctions. However, except from that, they are rather satisfactory.
Oil requires more frequent maintenance intervals compared to petrol engines. Additionally, it should be noted that these vehicles are equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), which makes them less suitable for use with extremely low mileage.

Negative. The early 2018 model (Mk8) Fiestas were still equipped with the unchanged wetbelt engine. While some individuals acquired the more recent engine in about 2020, it is worth noting that this engine still utilises a wetbelt for the oil pump. Unfortunately, we are already seeing a growing incidence of issues with this belt in the more recent engine models.

It is worth noting that the ecoboost engine has been equipped with a Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) since early 2019.
