Why does my W209 CLK240 make a squeaky noise whenever I turn?

When round a roundabout, for instance, I hear a squeaking/squealing that reminds me of squeaky brakes. Even though I'm not using the brakes, the sound is reminiscent of wheels rotating. As soon as I put the wheel back in its normal position, it stops.

Pardon my clumsy explanation, but can you have any suggestions?

Cracked cable holding clasp for the parking brake. Possible cause of cable rubbing on propshaft; location towards front of vehicle, below exhaust heat shield.

You guys are awesome for coming up with the idea.

I need to get it up on ramps so I can look into it. But wouldn't it constantly rub and make that noise? I drove about town a while with the window open after I finished my post at work. I can only describe it as sounding like pads rubbing unevenly on discs; as I straighten up, the noise stops. I don't recall ever seeing it make a left turn, but I'll try to keep a closer eye out for it from now on.

In order to take the other route around a roundabout, I plan to travel to France.

My CLK's gearbox is making a really peculiar (rotating) noise. Mechanical | Drivetrain

The park brake may be tested by simply being pulled up a few clicks to increase cable tension. If I recall correctly, if you take a left turn, the sounds will stop. When my clips eventually need replacing, I will be prepared

Right move. I'm going to give it a go.

If the clip fails, you may use a zip tie as a backup.

Discovered it late yesterday
Paid for the clippings. I'm planning to check it out this weekend. The price for four of the A 000 995 57 20 parts is £7.92.
