If you are referring to the three red seats, it indicates that none of the back seatbelts are secured.
Provided there are no objects on the back seats, it should dissipate within a few minutes.

Indeed, it may be a malfunctioning sensor.
It is designed to detect an occupant in the seat using a system of sensors, and then deactivate when the seatbelt is fastened. Upon first activation, it verifies the functionality of the sensors; thus, I suspect there may be a loose wire or contact.
What is the model and year of your vehicle? I conducted a brief online search and found that opinions vary; some individuals assert that the alarm should activate, while others claim it only engages when the seatbelt is fastened, with no sensors present in the back seats. You may also consult the owner's handbook included in your vehicle's center display and iDrive system.

Both my E90 and G20 are equipped with distinct sensors for each of the three back seats.
The warning lights should extinguish after a few minutes unless an occupant is seated with an unfastened seatbelt or an item is placed on the seat.
The specific weight barrier is unclear; nonetheless, Mrs. S's purse is exempt, but a large bag of groceries activates the light.
I will get it inspected under warranty.

Do you have any substantial items on the back seat?
I cannot recall the specific automobile, but someone previously inquired about the image of three milk bottles that appeared at first startup.
That prompted reflection till the realization occurred, amusingly.

I own a 2020 G21 equipped with iDrive 7, which may be deactivated as follows:
Access the Car menu on the iDrive system, choose Seat Comfort, then go to the back seats. You will see three boxes corresponding to each rear seat; deselect them to deactivate the warning lights.
Their continued presence while you are driving indicates a defect that requires rectification at some juncture.
I trust this information is beneficial.
