I opted to make a speculative purchase and purchased an NFC card key from a Kia retailer in the USA via eBay, since they seem to be unavailable in the UK to my knowledge. It came yesterday, and I tested its compatibility with the EV3 this morning; it works well!

It connected without complications, and after placing both fobs, the iPhone, and the watch (though I am uncertain of the Apple Watch's involvement) outside range, it successfully opened and locked the doors and let the vehicle to be started and driven.

I have decided to discontinue carrying the huge fob, since I am indifferent to its further functionalities beyond locking and unlocking. Instead, I will use my iPhone, watch, mechanical key, and NFC key card (stored in a protected wallet) and assess the outcome.

For anyone interested, the card key's component number is ATH81-AB000. The whole cost, inclusive of shipping from the USA (charged to a credit card with no foreign currency costs), amounted to £48.07, and the delivery took little over two weeks from the purchase date of 27th December.

I presume there is no designated location for placing the card to open the doors? I disabled keyless entry, and it seems that NFC may need it.

To open (or lock) the doors using the card, position it at the centre of the door handle for a few seconds.

Does this revive the potential for a relay attack?

I store the card, along with credit cards, in a protected wallet. Otherwise, I am unaware; the likelihood of it occurring is so minimal that it is not a concern that would disturb my peace of mind.

I am uncertain, but I personally would not use keyless technology. I have removed it on my present EV6. Activating the key fob to open or shut is not burdensome.
