Greetings to everybody!
I have a question: Is there a specific explanation for the high cost of a replacement crankshaft pulley? (refer to the attached screenshot)
Essentially, it is only a metallic object. Apologies, I am not an engineer, therefore I may lack awareness on this matter.
Are there any aftermarket substitutes for the crankshaft pulley? I was unable to locate any, regrettably.

It consists of two steel components with a rubber core, serving as both a harmonic balancer and a pulley. I concur with the recommendation to get a pre-owned item.

I appreciate your responses.
I had a pre-owned item as well; however, the central rubber component was inflexible, presumably owing to its age. Consequently, I considered purchasing a new one but was taken aback by the cost.

It is designed to be inflexible, since it endures significant strain.

A harmonic balancer is used to mitigate torsional vibrations. The rubber layer detaching and splitting the two sections need replacement. It is rather common in Td5 engines to experience a squeaking noise upon engine shutdown, and if sufficient time elapses, the two halves may separate, resulting in the outer component creating significant disruption under the hood, leading to the loss of belt drive, among other issues.
I believe they seldom fail on V8 engines, which are much more balanced. Likely the reason for their high cost.

They are capable of being reconstructed. A brief search produced "Damper Doctor" located in California.

Thank you, everyone; it was quite educational.
