I need a good obd2 Mercedes scanner so that I can perform things like read and clear trouble codes, retract the electronic parking brake while replacing brake pads, and regenerate the DPF.
Does anybody have a solid suggestion?
In your expert opinion, what is the best obd2 diagnostic tool for a Mercedes?

If you ask me, the iCarsoft CR-PRO is the best of the bunch; it has everything you could want and more. Just be sure you only get it from an authorized iCarsoft reseller. Now, it must be stated that some forum users did have issues with iCarsoft, so please continue reading before making a final choice.

I appreciate the tip and the heads-up. That seems like it will work, and the cost is reasonable. I discovered the TOPDON ArtidDiag 800 BT, which, although being more costly, offers a wider range of capabilities: ArtiDiag800BT from TOPDON Albionshire Diagnostics offers a free lifetime upgrade on their ArtiDiag 800 BT Car Diagnostic Tool, All Systems Scan Tool with 28 Maintenance Services, obd2 wireless diagnostic scanner.
Has anybody dealt with this before?
Investing a little extra now may save me hassle and money in the long run. Can you tell me whether the iCarsoft CR PRO can have new features added to it?

Currently, Carsoft's updates, patches, etc. are all free.

To me, it was an advertisement.

The evaluations are fair and accurate (I own both the iCarsoft and the Carly), despite the fact that the channel is an ad for him.

Your video links are quite helpful. The carly scan app piques my curiosity because of its apparent usefulness and the convenience of its mobile phone platform. From the video and their website, I gather that its maintenance features are lacking. The focus here appears to be on fault reading and coding modifications. Has anybody used Carly for routine maintenance tasks like EPB and DPF?

Once you start down the road of auto diagnostics, I guarantee you'll want more than the very minimum you listed.
Because it takes a lot of hardware to thoroughly probe a reader's modules, I'm skeptical of any solution that can be implemented on a mobile device.
Proofing against the future is a bit of an afterthought, since it relies on the reader's and the car's ability to be backwards compatible. Icarsoft has upgrades available for this purpose.
If you need to stick to mb, their v3 MB reader should suffice.

I also think the iCarsoft is the more professional option. Choose the iCarsoft if you can only have one scanner. Or you could do what I did and acquire both
