I am curious about the tyre pressures utilised by individuals on standard wheels.

I have consistently observed that manufacturer's settings are seldom optimal; so, after owning a car for several years, I have methodically determined the tyre pressure that ensures uniform wear over the tread width.

I have recently acquired my 318i and lack practical experience thus far. However, I am commencing with a tyre pressure of 30 psi for both the front and back, as I seldom have additional passengers in the vehicle.

I assume that BMW's recommended tire pressures are intended for Runflat tires, which often operate at elevated pressures.

If the Tyre Pressure warning light activates, should you inflate the affected tyre, will it automatically reset while driving, or must it be manually reset in the Menu?

I maintain a tyre pressure of 31 psi in the front and 39 psi in the rear for both winter and summer wheels on a comparable vehicle. I often drive alone in the car, resulting in consistent longevity and uniform wear across all four tires, as well as even contact surface area.

By ensuring accurate pressures and resetting the monitor (which I perform using iDrive, but I'm uncertain whether it is absent), it recalibrates the rolling circumference and proceeds accordingly. Deviation has to be quite a bit for amber and red warnings to come on though, it’s not like the newer TPM that gives individual pressures.

Gosh, I'm surprised you have such high pressures on the rear wheels . ..I'm not sure what the real weight distribution of the automobile is, but I guess it's heavier at the front?

On my Mk3 Supra (which is a heavier car) I have found 36psi at the front and 33psi for the rears gives even tyre wear (and I've owned it 23 years, so plenty of time to verify!)

The fully laden numbers specified on the door plate are 33 psi for the front (2.2 bar) and 41 psi for the rear (2.8 bar), indicating that I am operating at a marginally lower pressure.

I maintain a tyre pressure of 42 psi in the back and 37 psi in the front. I possess an E91 with a little reduction in rear camber, which at low pressure may result in inner tyre degradation. I possess 19-inch wheels, the width of which is uncertain, although they are from an M3.

Are you somewhat overweight?

Negative, standard physique/mass The vehicle exhibits superior feel and handling at 39/31 psi, and the tires have an extended lifespan. Individual preferences will vary slightly among people.

I concur. I appreciate my configuration. Tires endure for an extended duration when inflated to a higher pressure in the back.

My 2007 E90 has maintained a tyre pressure of 32 psi all around for the past five years.
Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tires were installed five years ago and exhibit uniform tread wear.
Recently, I acquired a second E90, the LCI version, and installed a set of Toyo Proxes. I am currently using them under identical conditions, but it is too soon to assess any tread wear.
