Could you please provide further information on the installation process of a timer/remote for the heater in the Q7 3.0 TDi? Is it possible to refit it? I am interested in installing a Webasto park heater, as it seems to be a potentially viable alternative.

To the best of my knowledge, the auxiliary heater is included as a standard feature in diesel vehicles delivered in the United Kingdom. To ascertain if the remote control and manual control may be engaged by an Audi dealer, it is advisable to direct this inquiry to the authorized dealership.
An other option would be to inquire with Webasto.

This morning was dedicated to engaging in conversations with an Audi dealer and a Webasto technical representative. Regrettably, the response does not align with my desired outcome.
The Q7 3.0 TDI is equipped with a Webasto heater that is installed by the manufacturer. This heater is designed to operate when the engine is running and the outside temperature falls below a certain threshold. Additionally, the heater may be set to "automatic" mode using the MMI menu.
It is feasible to do a refit of the remote control system, which typically incurs a cost of around 800 EURO in Slovenia. However, it is important to note that while the engine is not in operation, the remote control system just facilitates the heating of the engine coolant. Webasto asserts that it is not possible to initiate both the ventilation and heating of the passenger compartment when the engine is off.
The issue at hand is analogous to the one encountered with the VW Touareg, which pertains to intricate electronic systems. Despite attempts to address this matter through the installation of a comprehensive aftermarket Webasto heater (Thermo Top C), the problem remains unresolved due to the inability to activate the ventilation feature. A technical expert has confirmed that efforts to rectify this issue have been ongoing since the Touareg's introduction to the market, yet a solution has yet to be found. There are no discernible issues with other vehicles, such as the Audi A6, in this context.
The proposed approach is only partially effective, and if this is really the case, I will continue to adhere to my current strategy.

It has been observed that activating the center top ventilation button, specifically designed for rapid defogging, while simultaneously maintaining pressure on it, enables the ventilation system to operate even when the engine is not running. This operation utilizes the remaining heat stored in the coolant to warm the car. This is accomplished by the activation of both the coolant pump and the blower. In the event of the activation of the webasto heater, the interior would have a warming effect even in the absence of engine operation, starting from a chilly state. I do not consider the item to possess a value commensurate with its price of 800 euros. Furthermore, its use is limited to very brief durations owing to its substantial electrical consumption, mostly attributed to the blower and pumps.
