To start the procedure, ensure that the engine is in a state of total coolness. Proceed by extracting the spark plugs and using a cooling system pressure tester to apply pressure to the system, reaching a level of 1 bar. Utilize a bore scope instrument to visually inspect the inside of each cylinder in order to ascertain the presence of coolant ingress during the pressurized state of the cooling system.

Engines made of aluminum are unable to withstand excessive heat without experiencing head gasket failure or deformation of the cylinder heads and/or block. In general, upon the occurrence of a head gasket failure, the affected cylinder(s) often exhibit persistent misfires. The recommended course of action is the removal of the cylinder head(s) in order to conduct a thorough examination of both the head and block for any cracks or warping.
