That seems agreeable, but where can one get the NFC card key?
An individual in the EV3 division enquired about the source for obtaining them.
My one concern with the absence of the key fob is that one would be incapacitated if the 12V battery were to get depleted, rendering access to the vehicle impossible.
At a minimum, take the actual key for the door lock with you as a precaution. It may never occur, but should it transpire, you will be very grateful.
