Is coding required for the BMW Professional stereo system?

Greetings,
The audio system in my automobile ceased functioning, prompting me to get a pre-owned unit from the online marketplace eBay. While the replacement stereo operates without issue, it lacks auditory output. Consequently, I am curious as to whether this discrepancy necessitates the use of coding procedures.
If coding is required, does anybody have knowledge of any establishments in the Birmingham/West Midlands area that can address this matter?
The vehicle in question is a 2009 BMW E91 320d M Sport Touring model, equipped with the BMW Professional Radio.
I express my gratitude for your assistance.

I have never encountered the need to program a BMW radio, since the process often involves a simple removal and replacement procedure. In a recent instance, my nephews had a lack of audio output from their BMW radio. To address this issue, I procured a new radio unit, which effectively resolved the problem.

My device has undergone several instances of being inserted, removed, altered, exchanged, inserted and removed again, and has consistently maintained its functionality, or at the very least, its ability to produce audio.
I would examine the electrical connections and assess if the speakers and other components adhere to normal specifications or whether they have been modified by an individual.

The stereo has been appropriately connected, and a systematic process of disconnecting each module individually has been undertaken. Consequently, a continuous red light is seen traversing the whole system originating from the stereo. I purchased two stereo systems from the online marketplace eBay, and upon receiving them, I discovered that none of them produced any audio output. I have just placed an order for a third stereo system, with the expectation that the audio output would be satisfactory. However, I am uncertain about the course of action I should take if this particular stereo system fails to meet my expectations, since it seems very improbable for all three stereo systems I have tested so far to exhibit the same issue.

I would also recommend inspecting all fuses.

Hello, I saw that this discussion is rather old. I was wondering whether you were able to resolve the issue mentioned in your previous message. I am seeing a similar issue with the device that I have substituted.

I have decided to participate in this discussion thread as well. According to the user handbook, in the event of battery disconnection, it is necessary to re-enter the code for the audio system. Is the statement accurate? I am of the opinion that I did not get a code beside my 2007 525d vehicle.

The presence of the mentioned feature has not been seen in the BMW I Drive system or the regular CD player head units used in E9X vehicles.
The car's coding is such that it automatically reactivates upon the disconnection of either the head unit or the battery. The only need is the configuration of the time and date settings.

I have had a similar experience, where the BMW brand consistently offers a plug-and-play functionality, whilst other brands have required the use of a code for proper operation.

If you have recently made alterations, please ensure that all plugs are properly connected.
