Choices choices. Would love to hear your thoughts on which engine would be best for my upcoming return to an MB GLC.
After getting used to the minimalist dashboard in my XC40, yesterday's test drive of a white 26-plate 300E Prem+ petrol was a bit of a culture shock. Thoughtful and serene, but is it necessary to shell out the extra cash for a plug-in hybrid when my annual mileage is only around 6,000 miles?
I received an offer today for around £9,000 less than the 300E for a black 25-plate 300D premium with 12,000 miles (which is too much) on the odometer and a light grey interior. The diesel engine and the 6,000 annual miles have me very interested, but I'm still not convinced. Have owned a C250d, two E220d coupes, and one E220d hybrid; the 250d required only a nox sensor replacement at 26,000 miles. Is the issue with modern diesels more significant, or is it something that could cost a few hundred to fix in the future?
Another choice I have is a standard 300 petrol, which could be better in the long run, but reselling a non-hybrid GLC could be tricky, and the 300D has the advantage of a rare grey interior.???????????????

Although I am unable to provide advice regarding the engine, I can say that the courtesy car I had the pleasure of driving last week was fantastic (photo below).

In approximately 19 months, your running costs will be increased by the 1.5 p per mile hybrid tax, which is only about £90 per annum at your mileage.

I like your reasoning; the D's grey interior is gorgeous, but it's extremely rare, so I may have to ignore the 12,000 miles and give the bodywork a second look.

Considering that non-AMG hybrids are selling for £56-£58k, Sytner's offer of a black GLC43 with 2000 miles is pretty good. Yours for £62,000!

With its breathtaking acceleration, the GLC 43 was an outstanding vehicle. I think you should check it out.
