Ceasing idling

Greetings, I recently acquired a 2019 Ignis from Japan for export to an English-speaking nation. On the initial day, the idling stop feature functioned, indicated by a green LED displaying a 'A.' However, when I press the off button, a yellow LED labelled 'off' illuminates, and upon turning it off, it states: "I cannot activate the idling stop function." Could anyone elucidate the reason for this?
I appreciate it.

I am uncertain whether this system can be consistently powered off and on... The Stop/Start feature ought to engage automatically once the engine is switched off and subsequently restarted. During periods of inactivity, it can solely be disabled; reinitiating the engine is necessary for activation.
I perceive that the mechanical button solely serves to disable the Stop/Start system; to engage it, one must switch off the ignition and restart the engine.
Nevertheless, I have not personally conducted this test.

Look online for an owner's manual for your Ignis, download it, and peruse it - while it may not perfectly correspond to the JDM model you are operating, it is preferable to having no information at all. If you possess an Android smartphone, familiarise yourself with Google Translate; it will become an invaluable companion for translating Japanese dash messages.

Here is a compilation of the circumstances that may inhibit the operation of the "idle stop" system.

Greetings, I appreciate your assistance. I utilised Google Translate and created a flowchart. The issue of intermittent idling. Upon the car's arrival from the Japanese vessel, it commenced operation for half a mile before ceasing function outside a supermarket that retailed batteries, prompting me to install a new one. After extensive searching for the idle stop issue, it turns out a STOP STAT battery is required.

This is intended for operations characterised by frequent stop-and-go traffic throughout the day, as the recharging intervals are inadequate to sustain performance between starts. If you frequently engage in extended drives with few interruptions, a conventional battery will be adequate. I belong to the latter category, and when confronted with traffic signals, I am aware that idling for extended durations or at lengthy red lights yields no benefit, so I typically switch off the ignition to conserve fuel (a practice prohibited for all)—I have done this for many years without encountering any problems. Additionally, I possess an authentic manual gearbox vehicle equipped with a clutch pedal as a contingency.

This is unrelated to recharge durations; an EFB battery does not charge more rapidly than a conventional flooded battery, as its design is tailored to endure the more profound discharges associated with auto stop/start systems.
Reduced initiations, as per the scenario you delineate, will lead to diminished battery depletion, consequently enabling the battery, be it a conventional lead-acid or an Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB), to endure for a more extended period.

Suzuki would probably have equipped the vehicle with an Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB), which is essentially a more robust variant of a conventional lead-acid battery; I assert this likelihood based on the battery installed in my Vitara. A conventional lead-acid battery will function, as you have discovered, but it is probable that its longevity will be diminished - rather than lasting 3 to 4 years, it may only endure 1 to 2 years. I would not substitute it solely due to its inappropriateness, unless I could repurpose the item that was recently replaced.
