Charger malfunction

On Monday, a red warning about a Carging system fault appeared on the dashboard of my 2023 Evoque. Instead of driving it, I should have it recovered to the nearest JLR service center, according to the person I called.

Following a £175 payment, the vehicle was dispatched (after being informed that the earliest date for booking would be October 21st, but that it would be examined within 48 hours if picked up by recovery)!

Anyway, I got a call yesterday to let you know that a fault had been found—the DC to DC converter—and that the diagnostic test would cost £150. £1500 for labour, changes, etc. "Is this not a recall?" I enquired. They had a large number of vehicles experiencing the same problem and had recently received a large shipment of the necessary part, but the lady insisted it was in the United States and not England.

I will feel sorry for whomever answers the phone when I call if I find out later that this is a recall 😂.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Hello, I'm sorry to hear about your problems. British recall laws are weaker than those in the US, and JLR enjoys taking advantage of consumers. Which Evoque model are you driving?

A MY23 D165 R-Dynamic S is what it is.

I have had more problems with this one than with the previous three combined, and this is the fourth one I've owned. Originally planned to get another one in April, but I'm now really doubtful about that. Unfortunately, I really enjoy the car overall.

You would think that their loyalty alone would be enough to sort it out. :)
