The title accurately describes my problem: every time it gets cold, the engine stutters. Unlike with older vehicles, there is no typical hunting and surging. The engine stutters, that's all. Even when I set the cruise control to a constant speed and no gear changes occur, the vibrations in the seat and the fluctuating engine noise are noticeable.

Once the engine reaches normal operating temperature, which usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes after a cold start, the problem disappears. There are no diagnostic codes, and the mechanics at both the BMW and independent garages have run diagnostics and are unable to reproduce the problem, likely due to the car's temperature being too high when they receive it.

Is there anything you can think of to verify, probe, or swap out? On the other hand, is there a known fix for this issue?

It's a 2016 LCI model with regular servicing and 107,000 miles on the odometer. At the time of the recall, it had the EGR replaced.

Is there a Gearbox service available?

The problem persists regardless of whether the gearbox is in automatic or manual mode; the gears simply won't shift. Additionally, would a gearbox problem disappear after 20 minutes, when the vehicle has warmed up?

Oops, I thought the gearboxes were hermetically sealed.

For every vehicle I've owned, I've had the gearbox serviced shortly after purchase. For example, I had my M4 7-speed dct serviced at 36k miles.though it had been driven 20,000 miles.

German automaker ZF disputes BMW's claim that the sealed unit is a "lifetime" warranty. Every eight years or sixty thousand miles, have the gearbox serviced.
