Greetings, I have received advice suggesting the replacement of either the oil pressure valve or the secondary smart valve on my OM651 engine. It has come to my attention that these components are prone to malfunction and should be rendered inoperative by use of a specially designed plug. Is this statement accurate and does this task need a significant level of difficulty? The user expresses gratitude for the assistance provided.

The replacement of the oil pressure valve or secondary smart valve on the OM651 engine should only be undertaken in the event of a confirmed diagnosis of malfunction. The practise of using plugs to block off certain engine components is typically discouraged, unless it has been officially allowed for the particular type of engine being used. The level of intricacy associated with the task is contingent upon one's mechanical aptitude; nonetheless, it is recommended to seek guidance from a qualified mechanic or professional in order to get an accurate assessment and do the necessary repairs.

Among the purported concerns linked to different Mercedes engines, I have not seen any reports on the 651 engine. However, it is important to acknowledge that the absence of such information does not necessarily imply the nonexistence of any difficulties. In order to ascertain the rationale behind its classification, a comprehensive understanding of the basis for this categorization would be necessary.
Before making any decisions, it is advisable to do thorough research and/or consult a reliable independent source.
Over the course of a decade, I had the OM 651 engine, which allowed me to cover around 80,000 miles with very few issues.
However, I am unable to provide information on the manual gearbox or rear subframe.
Wishing you the best of luck.

The primary function of the valve is to reduce oil pressure during idle conditions. However, it is unfortunate that the valve sometimes malfunctions, resulting in a sustained low pressure state. This failure significantly disrupts the proper lubrication of the bottom bearings. Indeed, there are accessible blanking plates; but, the level of difficulty associated with their installation remains uncertain to me.

Thank you for your contribution. The item in question has not been identified as defective and is currently exhibiting no indications of malfunction. There have been reports circulating informally that some sprinters have had issues with the solenoid in question. However, I am uncertain as to whether the various automobile models also have this intelligent solenoid.

Thank you for your response. It has been observed that the sprinters have had difficulties with the solenoids, perhaps due to the adverse effects of low pressure on the lower components. Interestingly, it has been reported that Mercedes developed a blank off plug as a solution to these concerns after a certain period of time.

Thank you for your contribution, my friend. I have been informed about this before. Is there any potential danger associated with maintaining proper oil pressure under idle conditions? What factors prompted the decision to include a sophisticated solenoid into the engine?

The topic under consideration is fuel usage. A reduction in the burden of parasites might provide beneficial effects. There is no inherent danger associated with maintaining high pressure, as previously said. However, it is uncertain if all engine types are suitable for implementing the mentioned modification.

I understand the point you are making. Upon doing an internet search for component numbers, it is seen that the available listings only pertain to the Sprinter model. I am uncertain as to whether or not I own the solenoid in question.
