Greetings, everyone. I just purchased a 2015 M235i and discovered that my iDrive satellite navigation system is about 5 years behind in terms of updates. Upon doing a search on eBay, I have come across an individual who claims to possess extensive knowledge in a certain field and is offering updates for sale via a downloadable link. Nevertheless, he cautions that if you have used sources other than those deemed 'professional' to programme your vehicle, such as Carly or Bimmercode, there is a significant likelihood that the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) FSC file has been erased. Consequently, the update will not be successful and may possibly cause harm to the iDrive system. Is this statement accurate? As a Carly user, I am concerned about this issue and fear that I will not be able to do sat nav updates.

Consult Carly and Bimmercode for information on any issues encountered by their users throughout the update process.
If it were certain that using their app would result in a problem, I would expect both companies to include explicit cautions against using their application for this purpose.

It seems to be a provision allowing the update supplier to avoid responsibility if their download fails. Additionally, would any BMW dealer be willing to apply the update on your behalf?

To clarify, he is asserting that if Carly or any other software has been used to programme the automobile for any reason, it is probable that the FSC file has been erased. I agree, it may serve as an escape option, but given my unfortunate circumstances, I am likely to be the one who damages my iDrive system. If someone were to claim that it is a pile of crap, then that is a valid point.

Undoubtedly, Carly or Bimmercode would be capable to determining if the FSC has been regularly destroyed by their application.

Consider referring to this topic for assistance:

It seems that Shawnsheridan has an FSC generator, thus it would be advisable to inquire about it in that discussion.

It seems that you need an FSC code in order to do the upgrade. However, the seller is not being transparent and should explicitly state that the update can only be done by a BMW dealer or an expert equipped with the proper BMW software and tools. Alternatively, you must locate a somebody, such as Shawn, who can produce it on your behalf.

In my opinion, his prices exceed those found on eBay.

One option is to purchase the authentic BMW version for £79, which guarantees at least one upgrade later in the year.

I would be prepared to pay the amount if I were assured of a problem-free experience. Nevertheless, the issue may persist if Carly has removed or modified the required file/s.

Indeed, although there have been a few reports of such incidents, they seem to be quite seldom, since else the forum would be inundated with many accounts. I would be willing to take the risk, but only with the kosher BMW.

Ah! This is not the information I desired. I believe you are correct with the kosher one, and if there is an issue, I can bring the vehicle to the authorised dealership and claim no responsibility for using Carly on it, since I have only had the car for a duration of 2 weeks.

Thank you.
