Hello, I own a 2015 BMW 420d with the N47T engine. I would want to know whether this particular engine is equipped with the improved timing chain. Can you provide me with this information? Are there any issues with my automobiles that have reached 90,000 miles? Should I consider replacing them or will they continue to function adequately?

Every single n47 engine, even those equipped with upgraded components, will always encounter problems.
The more recent engines have a longer lifespan compared to the previous versions.
BMW claims that their chain kit is a lifetime component, however their definition of "lifetime" is limited to 100,000 miles. However, the general agreement among experts is to replace the chain kit at the 100,000-mile mark. In my opinion, I would not exceed a mileage of 100,000 on a n47 chain.
Over the years, I have experienced significant alterations in the loads I encounter, either due to being stretched to the point of potential failure or when they have already failed. The average mileage often falls between 80,000 and 140,000. However, I have seen a few instances where the mileage was below 80,000, although this was mostly observed in older versions with questionable service histories.

Although the basic concept remains the same, in the case of the N47 engine, the chain is located in the rear. This means that the engine has to be removed in order to address this issue. It would also be advisable to replace the dual-mass flywheel (DMF) and clutch simultaneously.

Mines
Since my vehicle is automated, I am fortunate enough not to have to worry about it.

For your information, I replaced the chains on my F31 N47 after obtaining a referral from someone on this site. I completed the task over the course of a weekend and I highly encourage him to do the job. The automobile operates well, providing me with a sense of tranquilly.
