There is an occasional malfunction with the alarm system of the ML 55 W163.

Greetings This is a rather peculiar situation. An alarm began to ring as I was driving. The only method to silence it was by detaching the battery connector. After inspecting the battery, it was determined that it was unable to retain its charge. As a result, the battery was replaced with a new one that was covered by the warranty.
Operated without issues for a period of 5 days, but thereafter had a recurrence of the problem. I drove to my relatives' home, where they had a security system. The journey took around 10 minutes, during which the alarm was continuously ringing. When I was about 30 seconds away from their house, the noise suddenly stopped. Connected to a star diagnostic system - indicating the absence of any problem codes.
I have been physically locking the vehicle instead of using the remote. This method has been working well for 5 days, but this morning it malfunctioned once more.

Do we believe that the Alarm sounder is the cause? The user did not provide any text. I believe it is situated under the front passenger wheel of the ML55.

I am so frustrated! Any advice would be much appreciated.

Replace the sounder; its battery is failing.

I had a premonition that it would be the sounder - is it situated under the front wheel? Is there any way I can disconnect it without removing all of stuff till I get the replacement component?
Thank you for the prompt reply!

If you are uncertain about your automobile, accessing it is often straightforward. It is advisable to remove the road wheel, but it is possible to do it without removing it. Elevate the automobile slightly using a jack, detach the wheel, manipulate the inner arch cover to create space, and disconnect the sounder.

It is advisable not to leave it, since it might initiate many peculiar occurrences. I have personally seen two occurrences where the car autonomously locks/unlocks itself and the danger lights spontaneously activate, which happens when the sounder malfunctions.

Indeed, I have no intention of abandoning it. I only want to deactivate it temporarily until I get the replacement component, so that it ceases emitting noise at 6am.
It is advisable to elevate the object and disconnect it from the power source to avoid the need for repeated removal of the battery.

I have never seen the term "sounder" before; I have always been familiar with it being referred to as a "siren." :)

Indeed, if the initial suspect is the internal battery, it is quite likely that it has depleted over time, considering its age of 20+ years.

Original Poster, Are you suggesting that the noise ceases when the vehicle battery is disconnected? This clearly indicates that the device is malfunctioning, since it should continue emitting sound even after the primary power source is unplugged. The internal batteries of the device are likely depleted, since there are several photographs available online showing the deteriorated internal components of the MB alarm unit.

No, that is a sounder. However, this is a siren. :D
