I researched this matter a few years ago and found that the restrictions on them rendered them rather inadequate in my opinion. It is advisable to invest the money in an emergency fund, even if you may not end up needing it.

optimal coverage I would expect it to be via Audi, although it is expensive.
My first-year insurance premium is little over £2,000 with a £250 excess. I have been informed that it is expected to decrease by half in the second year.

Essentially echoing Sophie_Williams2001 statement.
The Audi option is likely superior than the others. If you renew the coverage, the price is almost cut in half, as che77 pointed out. Audi offers two options: component and complete cover. I had component one for a few years, and the renewal cost from the second year onwards was over half of the initial amount. Consider selecting the cheaper insurance for the first year and then transitioning to the comprehensive coverage option at a discounted rate in the following year.
The most significant expense would likely be the failure of the gearbox or engine. Those things are significant, but the likelihood of obtaining them is rather low, in my opinion. Other expenses may be managed within a fair budget, with the magride system possibly being the most expensive depending on the selection.

With 130,000km on my 2014 vehicle, I have seen several little issues that may occur. I have had issues with a faulty oxygen sensor, a malfunctioning heat sensor, both tail lights being filled with fog, and many other minor problems that would have been expensive to repair, each costing a few thousand pounds.

The warranties available in the US seem to be more comprehensive than those in the UK.
