My girlfriend has a 2023 A3 and the MMI screen is completely unresponsive. The dashboard displays a standard notification indicating that the entertainment system is being initialised. Kindly be patient... The screen remains unresponsive and the message continuously circulates between the clocks.
The USB output is also non-functional, thus I have inspected the fuse, which seems to be in proper functioning condition. In addition, I have attempted the 'reset' procedure by pressing and holding the power button on the central volume controls for a duration of 10 seconds, but unfortunately, this method is also ineffective.
We welcome any suggestions or thoughts.

The need for an upgrade in the mmi system is well-documented, and as of my last knowledge, Audi has not yet developed a solution for it.

Similarly, I own a 2022 A3 diesel vehicle. On December 31, 2023, the touch screen did not display any information. Prior to that, I had successfully travelled a distance of 75 miles without encountering any issues. I used my comprehensive understanding of automotive electronics by turning the vehicle off and then restarting it. The screen remains completely devoid of any visual display. Arrived to the lunchtime eatery sans the display. After a two-hour interval, on the return trip, the mechanism functioned once again and has continued to do so consistently ever since. The car's odometer displays a mileage of 7,600 kilometres.
I purchased the automobile brand new. I am hesitant to return the automobile to the Dealer until I have acquired further information. Google indicates that this issue is often encountered, but does not provide much information on a reliable solution. Additionally, I would want to inquire if the problem of the black and white colour is covered under warranty, or whether I should anticipate the need to provide payment without any limitations.
Thank you in advance for any assistance and guidance from fellow exasperated proprietors.

I had a similar problem where the maps on my MMI system failed to function. The message 'initialling database' kept appearing repeatedly but never progressed beyond that point.
I brought my car to Audi and they rebuilt the maps. However, the process took some time since they had to do a complete reconfiguration of the MMI system. I recommend scheduling an appointment with Audi to get it serviced under warranty, which would likely include the same reconfiguration procedure. If you have concerns about possible expenses, I recommend informing them at the time of bringing in your vehicle to refrain from doing any service that might incur fees without your explicit authorization.
Based on my understanding, all updates for the MMI are sent wirelessly. If these updates are stopped, they may get corrupted, leading to a negative impact on the MMI. My friend has a 2022 A6 BkEd and he has had MMI failure on seven separate occasions.
Hopefully, this information proves beneficial.

Today, I contacted my nearby dealer to have a conversation with one of their service desk representatives.
The positive update:
The coffee and cookies were wonderful.
2. He has documented our conversation on the vehicle's record.
3. If I want their attention towards it, it pertains to a warranty problem.
The unfortunate news:
Considering the car's current state of correct functioning, it is quite unlikely that they will be able to identify the issue. He informed me that the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) likely has a multitude of recorded errors, but because it is now inoperable, they are unable to do a more detailed analysis of the OBD to determine the underlying cause of this particular problem.
He suggested that in the event of a recurrence, it could be beneficial for the Technicians if I captured a snapshot demonstrating the functionality of the dashboard while the touch screen remains unresponsive. He said that it is preferable to have something rather than nothing, and it could provide them with a hint or indication.
Finally, he also suggested doing a "restore factory settings" by holding down the radio on-off button for 10-15 seconds.
Currently, I am refraining from making any changes or interventions.

I saw this phenomenon twice on a prior occasion using a Q8.The MMI screen has suddenly been utterly devoid of any visual display.
Nevertheless, in both instances, I followed the advised procedure of doing a factory reset by pushing the radio on/off button for around 20 seconds, and it successfully resolved the issue on both occasions. The screen has been restored to its functioning state.
In June 2023, I upgraded my 2020 Q8 to a brand new one. So far, I have not had any issues with my present vehicle.

I am pleased that you have recorded it. I need to return my Audi A4 to the dealership once again owing to intermittent driving system and pre sense difficulties. I have only had it for 8 months and have already returned it 3 times.
Based on my research and conversations with other owners, it seems that the MMI system lacks reliability. After the warranty expires, I plan to sell it and get a more dependable item.
If the reset procedure fails, you may attempt to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes and then reconnect it. This action has the potential to perform a more thorough reset.
May the defect remain absent!
