The vehicle in question is an S320 CDI model from late 2008. Following many occurrences of the engine light illuminating, I used a spray can cleaner to the catalytic converter twice. The light now exhibits erratic behaviour, turning on and off unpredictably. For instance, on my drive to Minehead, which spans 160 miles, the light turned on when I was halfway there. We used the vehicle with the light activated for a duration of one week. However, on the day we concluded our journey, the light ceased to illuminate and remained inactive for the remainder of the trip. Since then, it fluctuates at its own discretion! There is a single sensor located in the main body of the CAT, which is the only sensor in the whole exhaust system. I first assumed that it was an O2 sensor, but others have raised uncertainties about that assumption. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts? Additionally, how can one determine whether it is defective? I have encountered an issue with my iCar software that indicates a blocked catalytic converter, although this is not the case.
