Greetings, everybody.

Currently, I am endeavouring to ascertain the source of a quite vexing noise emitted by my little vehicle. I have included two equalised recordings, one of me driving and the other of me revving the vehicle while it is in neutral. The noise becomes inaudible due to the engine's overpowering sound when subjected to significant strain, yet I am hesitant to accelerate the vehicle due to the unsettling sounds it produces.

I would really welcome any valuable information and I am willing to respond to any inquiries in order to fully understand this matter.

Brief summary of the vehicle

In 2009, the timing chain and guides were replaced in the N14 MCS. Additionally, a brand new OEM turbocharger was installed, along with a new drive belt and crankshaft seal.

You must provide public access to such recordings.

Apologies. The issue has been resolved and the functionality should be operational at this time.

Have you deactivated the air conditioning to see whether the sound ceases?

Affirmative. The air conditioning and the radio were entirely turned off.

Presumably, this noise is atypical for the vehicle?

I am unable to detect any auditory abnormalities. Is it possible that the noise is being caused by the drive belt? The tensioner often has to be changed when the timing chain is replaced. They have the tendency to get loud.

Consider manipulating the cable connected to the jockey wheel in order to halt the rotation of the water pump. However, be aware that this action may result in the rubber material detaching and generating a noise during rotation.

Undoubtedly seems to be a belt. Occasionally, the vehicle emits a somewhat conspicuous whirling sound upon ignition. I will investigate both recommendations at a later point this week when I have available time.
