Greetings, individuals. As the new owner of an E350 coupe, which I have had for a week, I have discovered an unresolved recall. Upon contacting MB, it has been determined that the vehicle requires an inspection of the steering column, as well as the passenger airbag. Additionally, there is a necessary update for the diesel system. I am contemplating whether or not to decline the diesel update. I appreciate any assistance provided.

Please inform them to refrain from doing any updates throughout the recall process. However, it is important to note that if the administrator mistakenly initiates an update, it cannot be reversed.
Has anybody experienced the update without encountering any problems?

During my last vehicle maintenance, the dealer performed a covert Diesel Update despite being explicitly instructed not to do so!
I was displeased with it, particularly when the vehicle subsequently displayed an EML. It was discovered that the NOx sensor needed to be replaced in order to meet the requirements of the Update. According to the information on the MB website, they assure that the sensors will be changed if necessary due to the update.

However, after a lengthy conversation, they ultimately provided me with free service. They attempted to persuade me that the update was obligatory, which is false according to the MB website.

I have seen no discernible change following the implementation, save for a possible reduction in the use of Adblue.

I intended to express that I am unable to do anything.

The vehicle has been scheduled for a service at Taunton MB on September 12th. I have informed the operator that I do not like to have the software update, but just the airbag and steering column inspection. During my visit, I will personally discuss this matter with the technician and get written confirmation.

I installed the software update on my S205 250 in March 2020 when the mileage on the car was about 50,000 kilometres. The value has just exceeded 90,000. One distinction is that Adblue has a reduced range of -7100 miles before it has to be refilled, compared to a full range of 12,000 miles after a complete refill. The majority of my journeys consist of distances ranging from 250 to 350 miles, mostly on highways. I meticulously document each trip and refuelling event, and I have seen a marginal improvement in miles per gallon (mpg). The Adblue dashboard display decreases by 100 miles in range for every 300 miles driven, indicating that I am achieving a greater range from the Adblue tank.
When I want a refill, I only use the Adblue pump located at my nearby Esso fueling station. There have been reports of issues with Adblue placed on garage forecourts in direct sunlight, as well as difficulties arising from the use of expired stock or the use of partially used bottles for refilling purposes.

It is likely that I have inadvertently caused harm or damage to my automobile.

Yesterday, I drained the adblue tank and refilled it with newly bought adblue that had a future expiration date. Additionally, I removed and cleaned the adblue injector and cleared the very obstructed exhaust port.

It is a matter of personal preference, and because I had owned the automobile since it was brand new, my preference was not to have it done. The local dealer in my area is affiliated with the same company as yours. Initially, they attempted to persuade me over the phone by presenting it as a 'positive'. I explicitly expressed my lack of desire for it.

Upon delivering the vehicle to the workshop, it was previously documented in the paperwork that no engine software update was required. I requested to directly communicate with the technician, but unfortunately, that was not feasible as they relocated the task to a different location within their organisation (which is an other matter). They informed me that the technician would not do the task as it was not included in their assigned duties. Nevertheless, I had previously affixed a conspicuous notice on the speedometer and another one over the glovebox, and I left them in place. The appearance was rather excessive, but impossible to overlook or misunderstand.

In all fairness, they acknowledged that a significant number of clients expressed their disinterest and they duly recognised this fact.

Thank you for providing reassurance. I want to follow your example and leave written notes to ensure clarity. However, I will need written confirmation to be absolutely certain.
