During the process of resolving the most recent set of problems with my Mini, the stop-start feature has been deactivated.
I need a replacement battery. Should I choose for a stop-start battery or can I use a conventional one?
The reactivation of the stop start function will not occur.

For stop/start functionality, you have the option of using either an EFB or an AGM battery, since both are compatible. The AGM battery is superior, despite Mini installing an Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) in mine from the beginning. The new battery requires registration, and if the type is changed, it also has to be programmed due to tiny differences in charge. Changing the battery is a simple task. I used Bimmerlink to officially register the new battery, and Bimmercode to switch from an Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) to an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery. If you are adhering to the same category, Bimmerlink is the sole need. Failure to register a fresh battery will prevent the stop/start function from resuming operation. I installed a Yuasa AGM battery, which is the same brand as the one sold by Halfords. However, I would have preferred to install a Bosch battery. In my experience, less expensive batteries have a shorter lifespan.

However, the functionality to initiate and terminate actions has been deactivated and will not be reinstated.

If the battery is brand new and completely charged, the stop-start function should resume functioning.

The DME utilises many inputs to activate or deactivate the stop-start function. One of these inputs is the battery health, while others include temperature and rain. The DME aims to prevent the car's interior from fogging up, among other considerations.

The issue mostly revolves on the charging process of the battery. An AGM battery, also known as a deep cycle battery or leisure battery, is meant to discharge to a low level before needing to be recharged. Unlike a lead acid battery, which is kept topped up by the alternator, an AGM battery is specifically built for deep cycling.

Well...
I have received a variety of information, but I believe it is necessary for me to ascertain what tasks have been completed and what tasks are still pending.
Is there any method to get the ECU data in order to determine the completed and pending tasks?

Even if the stop/start function is permanently disabled, it is still advisable to install a stop/start battery, since these are the only two kinds of batteries available that can regulate the charging rate: EFB and AGM. If you need a simple battery that will help you save a little amount of money, then configure it for EFB, since it is almost identical in functionality. An AGM battery is more advanced than traditional batteries and is expected to have a longer lifespan. It is necessary to register a new battery in order to adjust the charging process based on the battery's age. Failure to register the new battery may result in reduced battery life (according to claims).
Bimmerlink can get the ECU codes and settings. However, to deactivate the start/stop feature, the conventional procedure involves changing the setting from "always on" to "always off" when the vehicle is started. This may be accomplished via Bimmercode. Reactivating it in the automobile should restore its functionality till the car is turned off once again.

A more advanced scanner should have the capability to analyse real-time data and monitor the status of the stop-start function. However, it is important to note that this scanner would need to be of a better quality or more advanced in order to do these tasks.

When ordering a battery for my Mini, I am always asked whether it has a start-stop feature or not. This is because the start-stop battery is more durable and requires the correct battery type. Nowadays, I only purchase batteries from MPD over the counter. They offer a variety of Lucas batteries with a 4-year warranty, which are of good quality. Therefore, if my Mini has a start-stop feature, I must ensure that I purchase a start-stop battery. It is advisable to buy the battery based on the vehicle's registration number to be certain. If a non-start-stop battery is installed, it will quickly become damaged.

In order to integrate a new battery into the electronic control unit (ECU) system, it is necessary to code and register it using a diagnostics tool. The battery in question has a capacity of 71 ampere-hours (Ah).
