C207 E350 CDI experiencing gearbox malfunctions.

I own a 2009 E350 CDI coupe that I purchased a few years ago. The transmission has never been fully functional, but recently its performance has deteriorated more.
The primary indication is the gearbox sometimes failing to shift up at the appropriate time, instead maintaining the gear beyond 4,000 revolutions per minute and exhibiting a sensation akin to slippage, followed by a sudden and abrupt gear change.
I previously had the fluid and filter replaced, but it did not result in any noticeable improvement.
Has anybody had similar problems and can provide suggestions for resolving them, or identify nearby locations within the OX16 postcode area where I might get assistance?
