Greetings to everyone
I own a well-maintained E46 330ci to which I have made several enhancements, including supercharging and addressing all rear subframe mountings.
The engine utilises substantial quantities of oil at high vacuum circumstances (such as overrun and prolonged idling). It now consumes around 1.5 litres per 500 miles in varied driving conditions. Under normal circumstances, I would suspect the valve stem seals and proceed with their replacement; however, the M54B30 engine is notorious for inadequate oil control rings that exhibit similar symptoms. Furthermore, it is probable that the head bolts may strip the threads from the block during a rebuild. Therefore, removing the engine, replacing the rings, doing a mild honing, and installing new seals seemed impractical.
I am contemplating purchasing another engine and executing a direct replacement, although I believe I will encounter a similar predicament.
I am unable to locate somebody willing to do a minor rebuild for under £10,000.
I performed the standard piston soak using several products. The consumption improved, reducing from 1.5L per 200 miles to 1.5L per 500 miles; yet, this remains high. I suppose it may be a confluence of both difficulties.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Premium seals and piston rings, but no new bearings, pistons, or crankshaft.

At what point do you establish a boundary?
When disassembling the engine, it is logical to replace other components subject to wear simultaneously.
I would be disheartened if the oil pressure decreased owing to heightened bearing clearances.
The same rationale applies for replacing the whole clutch, release bearing, and spigot bearing if the engine is being removed. Access will be facilitated when the head is removed, regardless of the circumstances.
I understand that the expenses accumulate and may not be justifiable if you do not anticipate retaining the vehicle for an extended period.

Do individuals want $10,000 for the task?
Do they initially take you out for dinner and drinks, or do they immediately engage in sexual intercourse?
