Greetings to everybody!

I am an avid Mazda enthusiast and purchased a CX-30 upon relocating to Canada in 2020. Has been monitoring Mazda attentively since that time. We intended to upgrade to a CX-50 or CX-70 when we began preparing for a child. The first scan revealed that we are expecting twins. My wife, mother-in-law, and I, together with twins, must fit in the automobile.

I do not identify as a minivan enthusiast. I want to get the CX-90 PHEV equipped with Captain Seats. I was considering a seating arrangement with one kid seat in both the 2nd and 3rd rows. I am driving with my mother-in-law in the front passenger seat. Spouse accompanied by children in the second row.

The inquiry pertains to the ease of accommodating a rear-facing kid seat in the third row. I will allocate one side of the third row for strollers and related items.

Is purchasing the CX-90 a prudent choice, or should I go for a minivan till the children mature?

Visit your nearest dealer to examine it. It is likely feasible to accommodate all of that. Will it be facile to enter and exit? It is your decision. Select MHEV if it appeals to you. Achieve excellent fuel efficiency and maybe enhanced reliability. I currently own 20,000. The captain's seat is quite comfortable for an adult in the second row. The third row has never been opened.

A rear-facing seat can be accommodated in the third row; it is feasible. I must adjust the second-row seat forward somewhat to ensure functionality.

I have two children; we position the car seats in the second row, and while transporting three persons, the third adult occupies the centre seat in the third row. Somewhat uncomfortable, although feasible.

Spatial dynamics improve significantly when one can orient oneself ahead.

Congratulations on the impending arrival of twins! How exhilarating! May I respond as an individual with twins and a CX-90 PHEV? We have finally disposed of our Honda Odyssey van after more years than I am prepared to disclose and acquired a Mazda. We now own a CX-90 PHEV. Truthfully, having the vehicle was a significant advantage for us! The movable middle seat/console in the second row, equipped with captain's chairs, allowed me to sit between my twins, which was transformative. At the time I had the twins, we also had a three-year-old, which influenced the situation. He occupied the rear row. I cannot quantify the many times I sat in the backseat with my daughters, either nursing one or both during lengthy journeys or soothing them when they were distressed or weeping. Although your wife may breastfeed, there may be occasions when you will need to provide bottle feedings—whether with breast milk or formula. This may be compatible with the Mazda if it has the second-row bench seat, but I am uncertain about the spatial comparison. Is it capable of accommodating two car seats with an individual positioned between them? I was repeatedly pleased to sit between them.
Accessing the third row, whether for an infant in a car seat or for an adult, is much more cumbersome in the CX-9 or CX-90 compared to a minivan. The large folding doors provide access to the third row with remarkable ease.
This does not imply that you must get a minivan. I fully get the sentiment of feeling as if it is not you. I believe there are more spacious alternatives to the CX-90 that provide better access to the third row, however they are indeed larger vehicles. Additionally, for many years, travelling by car with twins necessitates bringing a considerable amount of belongings. If a third row of the CX is required for an individual or infant, consider using two portable cots and a double pram, in addition to your baggage, inside the remaining space. It is feasible but lacks spaciousness.
It is undoubtedly a very personal choice; nonetheless, I recommend dedicating substantial time to entering and exiting the second and third rows of several vehicles for comparison purposes. If possible, get a baby car seat and base from someone and attempt to install it in the second and third rows. Attempt to open the rear doors, adjust the second-row seat, and secure the car seat in the back row. Some vehicles will facilitate this much more than others.
We cherish our Mazda and also appreciated the spaciousness, comfort, and fuel efficiency of our minivan, as well as its capacity to accommodate guests and their belongings.

The car seats must be staggered; there will not be sufficient space to secure the infant seat in the third row if the base is put in the captain's chair in the front, since sliding the seat forward is the sole option after installation. The seat cannot be moved forward in the usual manner to access the third row.

The difficulty you will encounter arises when they outgrow the infant seat (or become too heavy for you to lift it with them inside) yet still require rear-facing positioning; this typically occurs between the ages of 1 and approximately 3 years (35-40 lbs). It will be particularly challenging to secure them in the third row, especially when they resist entering the vehicle.
The 3-in-1 or 4-in-1 seats required after surpassing the infant seat weight limit (often beyond 30 or 35 lbs, depending on the model) are substantial in size.

It is advisable to position the children in the second row and have an adult access the third row.

Progress becomes more manageable once they are orientated ahead, but the intervening 1-2 years will be challenging.

Thank you very much. My mother-in-law will stay with us for just a few months initially to assist us. Subsequently, it will be just the four of us. I will put the baby seats in the second row. Will a bench seat be beneficial in such circumstances in the second row?

Here are some images, should that be of use to you. The first image depicts my typical driving posture, where I sit much reclined and positioned far back. I am uncertain whether a bench seat would be advantageous; I believe the 2+2+3 arrangement with a pass-through would be superior.

I own the model equipped with the console, however the third row is seldom used; I am anticipating the ability to convert the toddler seat to a forward-facing position before to the arrival of our second child. 🙂

Thank you!I am 5'8" and believe I would not recline the seat excessively. How does the white inside withstand wear from children? My wife suggests opting for a black interior due to the children. However, I want white.

It is OK for the time being. I own a seat protector to prevent shoe marks; the spills, sand, and dirt from the child are either black or white. We do not provide her with food while driving, except when she puts snacks in her hand and brings them along. I am aware that many may not endure for an extended period, and she may need her snacks; nonetheless, we will see the outcome. The desired trim lacked a black inside, prompting us to go with the option available. This is our first car with a non-black interior.
