Does anybody else experience a delay of one or two seconds before the screen wash is dispensed? This indicates that the wipers begin to spread any grime on the windshield. It seems that fluid is returning to the tank between utilizations. The non-return valve has either malfunctioned or was never installed. Does your vehicle exhibit this behavior? The OEM component comprises the whole hose, hence I am uncertain whether to go with that option or just integrate a generic non-return valve.

The vehicle is a 2013 CLS.

All vehicles should be equipped with a non-return valve; yet, I have previously noted that my Mercedes-Benz is the only automobile among my three that, to my recollection, is the only one where the wipers activate immediately upon the request for wash and wipe. All others spray, followed by the movement of the blades after about one second.

It is bothersome and detrimental to the wiper blades on a dry and dusty windshield.

Based on recollection, it ejects instantly with the second attempt, suggesting the fluid has not had sufficient time to recede; nonetheless, I should verify. Indeed, the absence of a delay constitutes a flawed design, irrespective of whether there is drainage or not.

Upon encountering this issue with both of my newly acquired Mercedes vehicles, I procured a non-return valve from Halfords and installed it in the piping system.

Identical as the 05 CLK. Considered installing a non-return valve; however, there is a heating element inside the hose.

A short extension pipe may still accommodate one at the output end.

I have had Mercedes-Benz vehicles for over 20 years, and the present one I own is the only model to which I can connect your issues. Upon a cold start of the GLE, there is always a 2 to 3 second delay while using the wipers and windshield washer within seconds. After the vehicle has been operational for over a minute, the screenwash and wipers function almost instantaneously, and if I recall correctly, the water is dispensed first, particularly on the rear screen.

Is the whole pipe heated? On which side did you install the valve? Regarding backflow, it will be inconsequential.
