Greetings everyone,
My 58-plate X5 E70 has suddenly been emitting a beep every three seconds, which is really irritating. I have attempted to use both key fobs, which have been equipped and programmed with a fresh battery, and the issue persists even in the absence of keys.
It resembles the three beeps of the immobiliser upon inserting the key, but has ceased occurring, leading to the suspicion that it may be related to the absence of warning lights, and no codes were detected when scanned with Bimmerlink.
I have attempted to detach the battery for many hours, nevertheless the issue persists. Do you have any suggestions?

A diagnostic scan with the BMW kit may provide crucial information.
This is unfamiliar to me.
A wealth of information on the x5 vehicles is available here.

Thank you. I want to locate an independent dealer with an Instagram presence to get it scanned, since it is becoming cumbersome to drive.

Ensure all switches are off, lights are extinguished, all windows are closed, and the bonnet is secured; verify all components.

I have completed all necessary tasks; nonetheless, I appreciate the reminder. I am cautious about tempting fate, but I just drove for an hour and a half to get a detachable towbar installed, and the incessant beeping has ceased. Nothing has been modified, but I assume an aftermarket immobiliser may be the cause. I hope it remains quiet; wish me luck.šŸ˜

It seems that an aftermarket immobiliser is installed, since I have not encountered a BMW that emits a beeping sound when inserting the key. If it is, I doubt ISTA will provide any information. You need a someone to examine and ascertain if any aftermarket components are installed.

Upon purchase, the seller instructed me to allow the immobiliser to beep three times before starting the vehicle. After a two-week holiday, I completely forgot this procedure, which led to subsequent issues. I scanned the error codes, and the battery, which struggled to start after our absence, indicated a charge of 55%. Consequently, I replaced the battery, yet the beeping persisted. Completed a three-hour round drive to have a detachable towbar installed, and there was complete silenceā€”no sounds at all. Hopefully, the issue has resolved itself; nevertheless, I concur that it does not resemble a BMW sound. If the problem reoccurs, I will attempt to locate the source and remove it entirely.
