DISPLAY INACTIVE

Has anybody started their new Civic and seen the Sat Nav screen buffering before becoming completely blank? This morning, I started the ignition of my vehicle, and an incident occurred. I switched off the car, then restarted it, and after a few seconds, the screen reactivated. This is concerning given that the vehicle is less than three months old.

I am uncertain whether we are discussing the same problem; but, when I activated my device today, the screen remained black until I used the volume button to illuminate it. It did not perform that function during the subsequent return journey. I believed I had deactivated it on my previous usage of the vehicle.

I may have accidently turned off the screen without realising it. When I press the volume button, it just mutes the music; can it also deactivate the screen?

I concur with your assessment; it seems there is no method to deactivate the screen using the volume button. This morning, my device functioned correctly, therefore I will consider the previous issue an oddity until it recurs.

Upon conducting some investigation, I discovered that by pressing the night/day icon at the bottom, one can deactivate the screen for nighttime driving while still maintaining illumination of certain external buttons, such as the home button, which can be pressed to reactivate the screen. Like you, I did not pursue this option, but I hope it was merely a glitch. I trust this information is helpful.

My device malfunctioned again today. It functioned OK when I reversed it out of the garage, but around 30 minutes later, as I prepared to go for a little journey, it malfunctioned. I refrained from intervening to observe its behaviour, and after a while, it exhibited a spinning circle for almost 20 seconds before becoming blank again for a few seconds, thereafter initiating a regular startup. I am uncertain whether an issue exists; it may only be the Android subsystem doing an occasional cold boot.

My device has not had this issue since; I am curious about the prevalence of this problem. It is reassuring to learn that yours was returned in satisfactory condition.

Thank you
I am curious since I am aware that the updated 9G Civic had head unit problems.
