I am experiencing a problem with my car, as it fails to start.

Automobile specifications
2008 Mercedes A-Class Model - A180 CDI Diesel Engine - W169

Context of the issue
Day 1 - While driving at approximately 50 mph, the "ESP inoperative" notice appeared for 2 seconds. This was succeeded by a "Display inoperative" notice for a brief moment, after which the vehicle came to a halt. I removed the key, waited a minute, and then the car started normally and operated well throughout the day.
On Day 2, I encountered the same sequence of notifications and had to wait 15 minutes for the car to start, after which everything was satisfactory for the day.
On Day 3, the identical sequence of messages occurred as I approached home, and this time the device is not initiating at all. When the key is placed in position-2, the message "Oil level cannot be measured" is shown. The engine does not crank, but the starter is audible.

Examinations
The battery is functioning well, displaying 12.4 volts. All electrical components are operational, including lights, locking mechanisms, windows, horn, wipers, and sockets.
I disconnected the negative battery terminal for 60 minutes and attempted to start the vehicle, but to no avail. I inspected all the wiring under the hood, and everything seemed to be connected. I also connected an OBD2 scanner, but it did not switch on.

The inability of the OBD2 to connect may be attributed to the engine ECU, necessitating the acquisition of a replacement kit.
Given the absence of a crank and the car's abrupt shutdown, I suspect the crankshaft sensor may be the issue; however, I am unable to locate it for a physical inspection.

Since there are no codes available for examination.. I am entirely obstructed.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Is it possible for a defective relay to cause this issue? Engine relay number 87

Do you possess a relay for exchange and testing purposes? Is there voltage present at all live terminals of the relay? Is there a suitable foundation?

I examined the codes recorded immediately following the initial occurrence of the issue and identified code 1610 - verify that component K100kl (engine circuit relay) deactivates prematurely.

Accessing the relays in this vehicle is challenging, as they are concealed beneath the passenger footwell and require the removal of several plastic components, carpets, and underlay.

I was informed that the issue pertains to the ESP, as critical defects are designated as 'F' in the Xentry diagnosis.

My issue closely resembles the occasional no-start problem associated with the Mercedes W169 EZS.

It is the relay.
K100kL [engine] was exchanged with K100kC [horn], resulting in a successful and significantly faster start than previously experienced.

It is excellent news that you have identified the issue. Uncertain as to why that would be more expedient, however. A relay functions either correctly or not at all.
