The 2015 Continental GTC's trickle charger

Hi All

My car's magnetic charge connection seems to have given up the ghost. The cost to replace it, as estimated by Bentley, is equivalent to a small country's GDP.

Can a C-Tek trickle charger be used with a cigar lighter, and if so, does it eventually shut off?

Thanks a lot

Unlike a trickle charger, the Ctek will automatically turn off after it has fully charged the battery. For assistance, contact Ctek.

Sure. The point I'm trying to make is whether or not the cigar lighter socket remains active after a period of inactivity.

C-tek has no idea.

In my opinion, the cigar lighter is not a viable solution since your car already has a mechanism to provide power to the starting battery or the home battery as required.

It shouldn't be too hard to verify this. Why don't you try charging your phone by plugging it in when the car is turned off?

Like other premium manufacturers, the original Bentley charger for your vehicle is likely made by Ctek but labeled Bentley.
Those magnetic fasteners on the outside of the trunk, just above the license plate, are familiar to me. They use induction, making them difficult to test independently.
While it's true that you could use a different method to load your automobile, I believe the factory method is superior in every way (including resale value). Another Ctek that is not magnetic and may be directly connected to a battery is an alternative.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of smoking cigars with a lighter.

Perhaps an electrician might help you figure out what's wrong. Is the problem with the battery, the charger, or the boot's magnetic system (unexpected)?

BATTERY CHARGER (UK SPEC) (2012 onwards) (3Y0915685) is the name of the charger.

whether you need the additional magnetic pieces for the boot, you may see whether Flying Sp stocks them. Save the original setup for less than the UK's annual GDP, maybe!

There's a chance that this magnetic socket will work for you, however before you install it, double verify it with F/S and your vehicle identification number.

My 2014 RR Wraith was created by BMW's engineers, and I'm well aware that Audi now owns Bentley. According to my research, the cigarette lighter automatically turns off any electrical devices plugged into it after a short period of time. In the truck, I use the SnowFlake mode (AGS Battery) on an Amazon-purchased C-TEC MultiUS 7002 to charge my Wraith via magnetic hookup.
RR has also installed battery connection points in the engine compartment, which I may use to hook up the AGS battery in the trunk for charging. I hope the additional details are useful.

The magnetic charging adaptor for my C-Tek charger was one of the first things I bought when I received my RR Wraith. A few days of plugging it in revealed that the battery was not being charged. The dealer recommended I inspect the fuses. Have a good go at it! I connected a voltmeter to the trunk magnet connection and got no reading, so I removed the trunk carpet and reached beneath it to the connector in an attempt to discover where the power was coming from. The port's rear side has no connections. The battery clearly wasn't being charged, after all. The wires were never joined at the factory. As I withdrew my hand, two wires dropped to the floor; I hooked them up to the charging port's reverse side. Ay, yo, ready to go.

The magnetic connection may be found on sites like eBay and Amazon. They are a standard CTEK item, found on both RRs and Ferraris.

So, here's a little more recent information on this.

In conclusion, the magnetic connection on my Bentley charger is broken. So I plugged in one of my C-Tek battery packs to the cigar lighter. The automobile had no further starting problems at that time and was functioning well.

At first, the charger indicated a "half charge," but eventually, the "full charge" indicator began flashing and never stopped. I wasn't very worried.

Since it wasn't raining today, I decided to drive my Bentley. However, the keyless entry remote didn't work, so I had to manually unlock the door and boot (trunk). Assuming the vehicle had "gone to sleep," I never had auxiliary electrics when I parked. When I turned the key to the left, it activated the backup battery.

It would seem that powering the C-Tek from the cigar lighter socket has either completely depleted the little battery or rendered the device inoperable.

What do you guys think?
