Greetings to everybody. I own a BMW E60 M47 experiencing power reduction at about 2500 RPM.
The vehicle is a manual transmission with the diesel particulate filter deactivated and Stage 1 tuning applied.
At 2500 rpm in 3/4 gears, I experience a "lag" in power output. In fifth and sixth gears, the vehicle's power manifests as a wave between 2400 rpm and 2900 rpm. I replaced the MAF with a new BOSCH unit and reset it using ISTA. Serviced the EGR, MAP, cutoff valve, and the preceding sensor.

The issue continues to exist. No smoke when the power outage starts.
The issue arose subsequent to my replacement of the air filter.
Following many logs, during the power loss, the intake measured 2500 mbar, although the objective was 3500 mbar.

A recurring issue is that when I open the window, a significant amount of exhaust odor enters the space.
Assistance required? Kindly

Threshold mistake. Engines seldom experience abrupt halts. Attempted with the cutoff plug removed, however the latency issue remained.

1. Boost leak / charge air leak


An improperly secured clamp or misaligned hose after the filter box.


Fractured intercooler tubing (prevalent in M47/E60 models).

Damaged intercooler.


This would also explain the exhaust odor—if the leak is close to the engine compartment, heated boost/exhaust vapors may infiltrate the cabin.



2. Exhaust leak (pre-turbo or near manifold/EGR)

If exhaust gasses leak before to the turbo, the turbo will not spool well, resulting in less boost.

The presence of exhaust odor inside the vehicle strongly indicates a manifold fracture, a compromised gasket, or a malfunctioning flex pipe.

I will examine the intake and exhaust for leaks. I do not see any other noises like a boost leak, nor do I see any black smoke.
Merely that frustrating "lag." It is likely the location from whence the gasses emanate. I will verify and then provide an update. Thank you

I encountered a mistake with the CUTOFF; nevertheless, it is not functioning correctly, causing the engine to halt around every 1/20 of the time. Abrupt halt. I attempted to operate without the cutoff plug, nevertheless the issue of latency continues.
