Has anyone actually purchased a repo car through Carwin Transport? genuine or scam?

We’ve been on the hunt for family car and found a Skoda Kodiaq advertised on FB marketplace at what looks like a bargain price. The seller is an independent agent that works for Carwin Transport.

they’re asking for payment in advance but say the money goes into a segregated business account with a 10 days inspection/money-back period, sounds professional, but I’m still uneasy about paying without seeing the car first.

Looking for some honest feedback, has anyone dealt with Carwin Transport directly?

Thanks for raising this thread, I’ve been eyeing up one of their 2021 Mini Cooper S listings and had the same thoughts. Reading genuine stories from people who’ve actually received a vehicle would help a lot.

Hi, I purchased a repossessed Kia Sportage from Carwin Transport last week. Payment went through to their business account, but I got an email today saying delivery’s been pushed back 24 hours. I called them and someone named Daniel who told me it’ll arrive tomorrow without fail, or they’d refund me straight away if I prefer. Fingers crossed.

I gave them a ring myself and looked them up on Companies House. Everything matched, been registered since 2023 with no NI699570.

My cousin drives lorries for them in Belfast and only ever speaks positively about the place. He says the operation is run really tightly not just the car side, but the logistics side as well. They’re a proper road freight company, moving containers and general goods day in, day out, alongside delivering vehicles.
He’s personally dropped off plenty of cars to happy buyers across the UK, and hearing that from someone on the inside gave me a lot more confidence.

I went ahead with a C250 a beauty, through Carwin last year paid via bank transfer into their segregated account and had the car delivered to Glasgow a week later it turned up in better condition than the pictures suggested.

Thanks for all the replies, I’ve decided to go ahead and make the payment. I spoke with my solicitor about protection when paying by bank transfer, and he explained that since October 2024 the new rules mean banks must reimburse victims of scams up to £85,000. The refund has to be made within five working days as long as the payment went through main system UK banks use to send money between accounts( Faster Payments ) or CHAPS.
That gave me the reassurance I needed, so whether the car turns up or not, I know I’m covered.

Update on my Kia Sorento it landed today and matches the description perfectly. I did get nervous when I read horror stories online about scams, but once it rolled off the transporter, all the stress disappeared. Despite the slight delay, I’m really pleased.

Hey everyone,

I’ve mostly dealt with Carwin Transport for freight runs between Spain and the UK ( Portsmouth ) and they’ve always been spot on, professional, reliable, and the deliveries landed when they said they would.
Last month I helped my niece buy a 2022 Toyota Aygo through them, repossessed stock but honestly looked almost new. She couldn’t believe the price compared to dealers.
From what I’ve seen, whether it’s the logistics side or the vehicle sales, they run things properly and deliver what they promise.

Cheers

Had a positive run too bought a motorbike off eBay the seller was based in Antrim, NI and he suggested using Carwin Transport for handling the deal, they managed the payment and delivery between us.
Bike arrived in four days, and I got the same 10 day inspection period!
