No Power to the Starter

I own a 2006 Mini, basic model equipped with a continuously variable gearbox (CVT).
I was experiencing symptoms indicative of a deteriorating battery, characterised by difficulty in cranking prior to ignition.
Subsequently, one day it just declined to start.
The starter was around one year old, so I first dismissed that possibility.
AAA arrived to attempt a jump start, but there was no response.
Inspected the fuses; they were intact.
The starter relay is identical to another relay, which I cannot recall, so I interchanged them. No alteration.
Removed the starter and conducted a test on it.
It was satisfactory.
Perhaps the ignition?
Purchased a new one; the same problem persists.
I bypassed the solenoid, and the starting functioned.
I have successfully started the Mini, hence I can exclude the FOB as the issue.
What factors might contribute to this occurrence?
Are both relays defective?
*Is there not a switch that interfaces with the ECM to indicate that the Mini is in PARK?
Disruption in the wiring?
Are there any more suggestions?
I appreciate any recommendations.
