No Power to the Starter

I own a 2006 Mini, basic model equipped with a continuously variable gearbox (CVT).
I was experiencing symptoms indicative of a deteriorating battery, characterised by difficulty in cranking prior to ignition.
Subsequently, one day it just declined to start.

The starter was around one year old, so I first dismissed that possibility.
AAA arrived to attempt a jump start, but there was no response.
Inspected the fuses; they were intact.
The starter relay is identical to another relay, which I cannot recall, so I interchanged them. No alteration.
Removed the starter and conducted a test on it.
It was satisfactory.
Perhaps the ignition?
Purchased a new one; the same problem persists.

I bypassed the solenoid, and the starting functioned.
I have successfully started the Mini, hence I can exclude the FOB as the issue.

What factors might contribute to this occurrence?
Are both relays defective?
*Is there not a switch that interfaces with the ECM to indicate that the Mini is in PARK?
Disruption in the wiring?

Are there any more suggestions?

I appreciate any recommendations.

It seems you have conducted extensive and astute troubleshooting, particularly by initiating operation via the solenoid bypass. Have you attempted to start the vehicle in Neutral to see whether it affects the ECM's response, given your reference to the switch indicating the car is in Park? Disseminating the occurrences may assist an individual in refining the potential options.

I am really foolish!
I had considered it but neglected to attempt it prior to severing the cables.
As I want to return to the first stage, I will do tests once I get the wires.

Verify Earth cable?

I fail to comprehend why individuals reference it.
If the starter had not been linked to the 'Earth Cables,' it would not have started, correct?
Trust me when I assert that it is well grounded.
