2016 SL63 roof complications

I have just acquired my 2016 SL63 and am very satisfied.
I have a concern/inquiry.
I returned from the dealership with the car's roof up - everything satisfactory. I stopped and placed many things in the trunk. I entered the vehicle and attempted to retract the roof, but the automobile indicated that I was over the speed limit, while being stopped.
I intended to check when I returned home, only a few miles distant. I subsequently saw many alerts on the dashboard. I departed, and after half a mile, the vehicle entered limp mode, exhibiting no throttle response.
I paused, and as the immediate shock subsided, I reflected on the changes I had made. I inspected the boot and discovered that the lid restricting the boot area was absent. I reduced this, began the vehicle, retracted the roof, and had no more problems.
This morning, it exhibited the same faults, but after the limit cover was reduced, everything functioned well.
Is this an idiosyncrasy exclusive to my vehicle or a common characteristic of cars from this era?
Any assistance will be very appreciated.
