RHD C55 manual gearbox conversion

Greetings everyone,

I intend to perform a manual gearbox swap on my 2004 S203 C55 AMG estate/wagon. My study indicates that the majority of primary components share the same part number globally; nevertheless, I suspect that certain parts differ for right-hand drive versions. Has anyone completed this conversion in the UK or any other right-hand drive market? Any information regarding the appropriate gearshift mechanism would be appreciated. Seeking guidance from anyone who can provide counsel on this matter.

I will share this on additional Benz sites as I wish to expedite this process; my 722.6 gearbox appears to be nearing catastrophic failure.

Thank you in advance.

Are you installing a Getrag gearbox?

It is my belief that individuals previously installed 6-speed transmissions from M112 engine vehicles, such as the R170, among others.

3.6 would undoubtedly provide guidance, as I am certain he has already addressed this matter. It is reasonable to assume there are evident differences, such as the pedal box, among others.

I would opt to repair or replace the 722.6, though individual preferences may vary.

Should you locate one, the W203 C240 will provide all the necessary components, while the W210 E240 serves as the next optimal donor. An alternative is a Chrysler Crossfire, which may provide several components.

The conventional gear-lever system is subpar, so there is no need to seek it; a superior configuration may be achieved utilising BMW E46 components.

It is likely that a few exist, but it appears to be an uncommon decision to configure a W210 E-Class with an M112 2.6-liter six-cylinder engine paired with a manual gearbox.

Additionally, in my opinion, the M113 is not a very high-revving engine. The C55 is a smooth, comfortable, and somewhat swift saloon car for its era; but, I fail to perceive the advantage of constant manual gear shifting, as it detracts more from the entire experience than it does.

Perhaps the original poster possesses three feet, in which case he will be untroubled. As long as I possess only two feet, two pedals will suffice for my needs.

...and I trust you will utilise only one of those two feet! :D👍

Affirmative. Furthermore, to exacerbate the absurdity, I do not walk; I hop.
