Greetings everyone,

I am experiencing difficulties. I attempted to repair the boot latch on my cherished E60 LCI (2010) saloon. After a vexing afternoon, I became distracted and closed the boot with the latch cable detached from the key fob mechanism, rendering it inoperable. I now I must drill into the trunk to access the release mechanism.
Does anyone possess the specifications for drilling locations? I have searched many forums for two days and have been unable to get the information regarding the E60.

If not, could someone capture several photographs of both the latch and the corresponding bar, as well as provide more precise dimensions of the latch? Is it centred, and how much of the latch protrudes when the boot is opened? What is the length of the bar protruding from the lower section of the trunk to which it latches? I own a new latch to interpret any given measures. I would greatly appreciate any assistance, as I need to fly in three days!
Thank you in advance!

Fold down the back seats to access the release mechanism from within.

Greetings, and I appreciate your prompt reply.
Accessing the trunk is necessary to lower the back seats in the E60.

I could have sworn that you could complete them from inside the car.

Have you utilised the emergency release cord located beneath the rear bench on the driver's side?

Greetings, Are you referring to the area beneath the rear seats? My device lacks cords, and I do not remember any object entering the latch except from the robust metal cable connected to the key fob.

Upon lifting the rear bench, a pull cord featuring a circular metal handle should be present; this was the case in the M5 vehicles, and it is difficult to conceive how other versions would differ.

If it is not feasible, can one not simply detach the rear bench and unscrew the T50 Torx bolts to extract the vertical section of the seats? Is there a ski hatch accessible through the armrest for lowering the seats? If there is no ski hatch beneath the armrest, one can typically detach the plastic panel with a trim removal tool, allowing access to manoeuvre one arm through to lower the seats.

Thank you for your assistance. vendimoto55 Indeed, there is no emergency chord on this model, and regrettably, it lacks a ski hatch. To lower the back section of the rear seats, there are spring-loaded latches located just behind the seat in the trunk. They have not really considered that.
