Ten days utilising Full Self-Driving on a new 2026 Model Y.

I acquired my 2026 Model Y Premium All-Wheel Drive Long Range vehicle with complete self-driving capabilities 10 days ago. I have utilised FSD on version 13 for several days, followed by version 14.1.7, and for the past two days, version 14.2.

Here are my reflections. My prior experience with FSD has been on a 2020 Model Y utilising version 12 FSD. I am thoroughly impressed by the efficacy of the current FSD on highways and urban streets, both in light and heavy traffic conditions. Over the past ten days, I have undertaken several dozen journeys, all utilising FSD, without necessitating any interventions. That likely entails several hours of driving without engaging the steering wheel, brake, or accelerator en route to a destination.

In FSD 14.2, I observed suitable responses to hand gestures, and for the first time, FSD successfully reversed out of my single garage, which is a confined space.

I have noted several limitations and obstacles, none of which are likely to be surprising or novel to those following FSD advancements.

I have been unable to manoeuvre the automobile into my garage. Notably, it designated my parking choice at my residence as "charger". This is likely due to the presence of a Tesla wall charger in my garage.
I have observed several films demonstrating the efficacy of FSD in parking lots. My experience has been rather unsatisfactory. Certain parking lots provide many entrances, yet the one selected is seldom the one I would choose. It proceeds past the initial entrance to select a subsequent one.
FSD was parked once in a shopping plaza. Although a parking space was available nearest to the destination at one end of the strip mall, a place was chosen on the opposite side.
I frequently frequent a substantial shopping centre. It consistently prefers to park in a particular portion of the parking lot, which is not in proximity to my desired location. I have not yet determined how to designate my preferred parking spot as the target location for parking. FSD consistently selects a parking location around half a mile from my desired destination.

I encountered an incident in a parking lot when it appeared that FST was attempting to execute two contradictory actions simultaneously. The FSD attempted to enter a parking lot by an entry I did not want, prompting me to intervene and utilise the nearer door instead. While in a parking lot, I activated FSD, which initiated a sequence to park in a space that was likely the most far from the destination location. Simultaneously, while reversing into a parking space, the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system was attempting to exit the parking lot entrance that I had utilised to navigate around the exterior of the lot towards the entrance it first intended to access. It occurred while manoeuvring into a parking place in the parking lot.
I recognise that parking lots represent some of the most intricate driving settings, and I anticipate improvements in this domain.

I would appreciate an extra user interface option to specify if parking in a handicap space is permitted.

I would prefer the obsolete intelligent summon to be substituted by FSD.

Do not misunderstand me. I am quite pleased with my initial 10 days of experience with FSD on my new Model Y. I anticipate forthcoming improvements.

I commenced with FSD version 13.2.9 and subsequently upgraded to version 14.1.4. My experiences have been analogous. I found version 13.2.9 impressive; nevertheless, version 14.1.4 is evidently superior, albeit not flawless. As the Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology improves, we, as owners, become increasingly selective and picky. I have several peculiar scenarios, one within my neighbourhood, that FSD inadequately addresses. Conversely, 14.1.4 is quite impressive. I have extensively utilised FSD to understand its functionalities and to establish a sense of familiarity with it. I am currently at ease allowing it to navigate a long-distance journey, specifically from our residence in Kentucky to Beaufort, SC. This would significantly alleviate my burden, since there are many SC stations throughout route, rendering charging a non-issue. I am enthusiastic about anticipating version 14.2 and subsequent releases.

Utilised FSD 14.2 for the inaugural time today. My initial response is one of astonishment; I utilised it to travel home from the family Thanksgiving feast. Fourteen miles on two-lane rural roads and via two tiny municipalities. Exceedingly seamless in every facet. The erratic issues with version 14.1.4 have been resolved. This has been the most comfortable experience I have had on a journey utilising it. FSD continues to improve consistently.
